Dietary-supplement e-commerce with OpenCart, then migration to WordPress

A retailer of dietary supplements and sports nutrition launched online sales with a dedicated e-commerce site. As their needs evolved, the site was migrated to WordPress/WooCommerce to give them complete autonomy.

The sports-nutrition retailer sold exclusively in-store. Their customers were local athletes who knew the address, but their niche had far broader potential. An e-commerce site would let them reach customers in other regions without opening additional points of sale.

The first OpenCart version successfully launched online sales. When the retailer wanted to manage the catalog themselves (adding new products, seasonal promotions), the complexity of the OpenCart back office was a hindrance. The migration to WordPress/WooCommerce gave them the autonomy they were looking for, with an admin interface they could master in a few hours of training.

What was delivered

The online shop opened a new sales channel for a niche market with little local online competition.

The specialized catalog with product categories (proteins, vitamins, equipment) made navigation easier for athletes.

The migration to WordPress/WooCommerce let the retailer manage their catalog, promotions, and orders on their own.

Customer data and order history were preserved during the migration, ensuring a seamless transition.
